  4. Some Kodi addons have just been taken offline and removed from their repositories UPDATED A developing story, some Kodi addons have just been taken offline and removed from their repositories. So far, cCloud and One242415 have been taken down amongst a lot of our other favourites. June 6th UPDATE: Echo Coder and Phoenix have also joined One242415, cCloud, and SALTs going offline. Read the updated list and messages below. Note that if you have these addons installed already, they will continue to function IF they are scraping websites on the internet for links. Playlist addons that require developers to maintain on a daily basis can be taken down instantly. There is no official indication of whether this is related to the news about Dish Network suing Zem TV, but other Kodi Addons are being taken down by developers in light of the news that has come out recently. The complete list of current addons taken down is below. If you want to see for yourself, you can visit the repository of those addons and see that the directories are currently empty. If you try to install the addons in Kodi, you will likely find the same thing. cCloud – Taken down ‘temporarily’ until further notice SALTs – Development is moving on froom tknorris to k3l3vra and k3l3vra will be releasing his own repo soon. Straight from tknorris: For a while now the pace of development of SALTS has slowed as there hasn’t been much to add to it and it works well enough that I don’t have to stay on top of it. Due to that, I’ve kind of lost interest in it. In that time all of you have seen k3l3vra has really stepped up and in the forum and what most of you have not seen, also behind the scenes been helping as well. With someone reliable to take over development and my lack of interest, it’s a signal that it’s time for me to retire from SALTS development. I will continue to work on my other addons like the premiumize addon, urlresolver, and apple trailers and will advise k3l3vra when he asks for it.In a short while, I will push an update to my beta repo that removes all SALTS and 1CH related addons from it. In the coming days look for k3l3vra to release a repo that includes SALTS and 1CH.It’s been a fun ride and while I’m retiring from these addons, I’m not going far and will continue to monitor this ID and these forums. One242415 – The addon is official being shut down forever. Straight from One242415 in his addon: I am removing my addon for good. It was a hell of a ride for me. First starting off with Navi-X, then with Mashup, then with Phoenix, and for two months with my own add-on. Thank you all for supporting One242415!! PS: I will not be back I’m closing down for good! This addon will be closed within a few days Phoenix – The addon is being shut down forever. From Cosmix: In light of current events we have decided to close down phoenix. This is not something that was easy for us to do; we have all formed a bond that cannot be broken as a team and have a HUGE support base that we are thankful of. I can speak for myself when i say thank you to everybody that has ever been involved in phoenix and it will always be one of my fondest memories. All of Echo Coder’s addons – Echo Documentaries, Echo Guide, Sportie, etc – Confirmed on Twitter by Echo. UK Turk – On Twitter, he said he wasn’t leaving, but his add-on has been removed from the repo. His message on Twitter: Guys im not going anywhere but sum of u mite have noticed the live stuff has been taken down for the time being until this blows over OTHER ADDONS WE KNOWS ABOUT Phoenix (closed) Sportie ( Closing) Vortex (closed) DOJO Streams (Closing) F.t.f.a (closed) Bamf (closed) Zem (closed live tv) (VOD available) Silent hunter (content moved to streamarmy) Deliverence (closed) Ccloud (speculation) Salts (speculation) One128 (closed) Reaper (closed) Cerburus (closed) BOB (issues with NAN site it’s not closed) Zen (issues with NAN site it’s not closed) Just for him (closed) Les be friends (closed) Mporn (closed) News12 (closed) Skynet ( being phased out) Evolve (live tv and sport gone. Rest working) SRTVHUB (being taken over) I will try and update this post but hopefully we won’t be loosing many more, also I am on Vacation from Friday but ill try my best to keep you all updated Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day. 5. Popular Kodi Add-Ons Quit Following Prominent Piracy Lawsuit Over the past few days, several prominent third-party Kodi add-ons have thrown in the towel, at least temporarily. While most developers remain vague about the exact nature of their decisions, it appears that legal worries are the main trigger for many. On Monday we broke the news that third-party Kodi add-on ZemTV and the TVAddons library were being sued in a federal court in Texas. In a complaint filed by American satellite and broadcast provider Dish Network, both stand accused of copyright infringement, facing up to $150,000 for each offense. The news came as a shock to many add-on developers, most of whom release their software as a hobby, with no financial motive. A potential lawsuit that can run to hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages clearly takes away most of the fun. This could very well explain why several add-ons have shut down over the past 48 hours. While the lawsuit isn’t specifically named in most cases, there appears to be a direct connection. One of the main add-ons that has thrown in the towel is Phoenix, which offered access to a wide range of channels, broadcasts, movies and TV shows. “In light of current events we have decided to close down Phoenix. This is not something that was easy for us to do; we have all formed a bond that cannot be broken as a team and have a HUGE support base that we are thankful of,” Phoenix developer Cosmix writes. “I can speak for myself when I say thank you to everybody that has ever been involved in Phoenix and it will always be one of my fondest memories,” he adds. Cosmix’s announcement Developer One242415, known for his work on Navi-X, Phoenix and later his own add-on, took a similar decision. He announced the news directly from his add-on which will be closed in a few days. “I am removing my addon for good. It was a hell of a ride for me. First starting off with Navi-X, then with Mashup, then with Phoenix, and for two months with my own add-on.” In a similar vein, developer Echo Coder also announced that all his addons will be shut down. Again, without naming a specific reason. On Twitter, he did say, however, that the recent spike in popularity of third-party add-ons was not beneficial to the community. “The reality is we did say the growth of third party popularity would hinder us. Unfortunately, now it looks like an implosion,” he tweeted yesterday. A few hours later this message was followed up with a note that he had pulled his own add-ons offline. “Thank you for the last year. My addons are now off-line. Its been emotional. Take care,” Echo Coder wrote. Echo Coder’s announcement The above is just the tip of the iceberg. Several other third-party projects and add-ons have also shut down, announced a temporary hiatus, or other changes. Various Kodi community websites, including Kodi Geeks, are trying to keep up with all the add-ons that are toppling, and uncertainty remains. The community is in a state of turmoil, and it will take several more days to see what the exact fallout will be. Assuming that the Dish lawsuit is indeed the main trigger for the recent uproar, it is clear that many developers prefer to stay out of trouble. And with Kodi related piracy in the spotlights of copyright holders, legal pressure is likely to increase Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day. The Mixdoctor Team Member of koditalk.org

  7. Top 10 Kodi Addons June 2017 Edition (Movies & TV, Live TV and Sports) Addons work by scraping content from online streaming sources. When everyone uses the same Kodi addon just because it’s what they’re used to, it leads to the Kodi addon breaking more often. By spreading out your usage between multiple Kodi addons, you’re allowing the tension placed upon scrapers to be spread out as opposed to hitting the same ones over and over. Think of it as sustainable usage of Kodi addons. Spreading your Kodi addon usage will encourage more developers to thrive to bring innovative functionality and result in a more reliable Kodi addon experience all around. Try out different Kodi addons and find cool new content that you would have never thought to look for in the first place. Please note that all of the Kodi addons listed below can be easily installed 1 Stream All The Sources Developed by the same person who maintains the URLResolver dependency which powers the majority of other Kodi addons, Stream All The Sources (or SALTS for short) has been one of the most reliable addons this community has ever seen for movies and TV. 2 Exodus We all know Exodus, it’s probably the most popular Kodi addon of all time. All the movies and TV shows you can image, HD sources galore. Exodus now offers German, French, Korean, Polish and Russian language content too! 3 USTVnow Plus USTVnow is a legitimately licensed streaming provider that provides free HD access to ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX, NBC, PBS and My9. You’ll need to register at their web site, but registration is free so no big deal. They also offer premium channels at a cost. 4 Sportie Sportie is also fairly new but has picked up where Pro Sport left behind, we particularly like the Reddit powered streams which are usually quite on point. This developer is really working hard to bring quality sports to the masses. 5 Bubbles You probably haven’t heard of Bubbles yet, but that’s all about to change. This guy came out of nowhere and has been working nonstop to bring one of the most intricate Kodi addons we’ve ever seen. Watch all your favourite movies and TV shows! 6 cCloud TV cCloud TV scours the internet for live TV links, it’s a little bit disorganized but man are there a lot of channels, more channels than any planet should even have. There are live TV channels from across the world, but it’ll take some getting used to. 7 Ultimate IPTV Ultimate IPTV is really not organized at all, but we’re including it here due to the insane amount of content offered. Just choose the index, then the channel list, and find high quality live TV channels streamed from around the world. Really good for foreign language TV stations. 8 SportsDevil SportsDevil the longest running sports addon to date, it has been around for years, at times it has worked flawlessly, at other times not so much so. SportsDevil has been working great lately though, we see a sort of renaissance in the works! 9 Phoenix Phoenix is constantly changing, it offers custom curated lists of HD content as well as live sports, TV channels and more. Since this addon is a playlist addon, more effort is put into the quality of content. Great for when you’re not sure what to watch! 10 UK Turk Playlists UK Turk Playlists is another playlist addon offering great curated lists of content. You’ll find live TV, sports, movies, TV shows, concerts, documentaries, comedy, radio, and a whole lot more. This guy updates his lists daily, definitely a good time. We really hope you enjoy these addons as much as we do, and please remember that our developers are all volunteers, they don’t get paid, nor do they want to get paid. Don’t let the guy at the mall selling preloaded boxes fool you into thinking he’s doing anything except making a buck off other people’s hard work. Try to come around and show them your appreciation sometime, a few kind words goes a long way. Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day. The Mixdoctor Team Member of koditalk.org

  9. Kodi Addon Navi-X Bites The Dust After 10 Years One of the oldest and most popular Kodi addons is being shut down after a decade in action. Navi-X, which was the go-to addon for hundreds of thousands of people, will be discontinued due to legal fears, spam, and pollution with mislabeled adult content. One of the main questions asked by new users of the Kodi media player is what addons should be installed to get the best experience right from the start. Over the years, hit add-ons such as Exodus, Phoenix, SALTS and SportsDevil have all been top of the list but due to its wide range of content, one in particular has enjoyed broad appeal. Navi-X began life ten years ago in 2007. Developed by Netherlands-based coder ‘Rodejo’, it debuted on XBMC (Kodi’s previous name) on the original XBoX. “Navi-X originally only played back media items of video and audio content and was eventually expanded to included many other media types like text, RSS, live streams and podcasts,” the team at TV Addons explain. Over the years, however, things changed dramatically. Due to the way Navi-X works, the addon can import playlists from any number of sources, and they have invariably been dominated by copyrighted content, from movies and TV shows through to live sports. This earned the addon a massive following, estimated by TV Addons – the site that maintained the software – as numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Soon, however, Navi-X will be no more. “Every good thing must come to an end. After ten years of successful operation, Navi-X is sadly being discontinued. Navi-X was first released in April 2007, and is the oldest Kodi addon of its kind,” TV Addons explain. “There are a few reasons why we made the decision to close Navi-X, and hope that the hundreds of thousands of people who still used Navi-X daily will understand why it was best to discontinue Navi-X while it was still on top.” The team says that the main reason for discontinuing the addon and its underlying service is the current legal climate. Hosting Navi-X playlists is something that TV Addons no longer feels comfortable with “due to the potential liability that comes with it.” Also, the team says that Navi-X was slowly being overrun by people trying to make a profit from the service. Playlists were being filled with spam, often advertising premium illegal IPTV services, which TV Addons strongly opposes. Mislabeling of adult content was also causing issues, and despite TV Addons’ best efforts to get rid of the offending content, they were fighting a losing battle. “We tried to moderate the database, but there was just too much content, no one had the time to watch thousands of videos to remove ads and distasteful content,” the team explains. Unlike other addons that have come under legal pressure, the shutdown of Navi-X is entirely voluntary. TV Addons extends thanks to developers rodejo16 and turner3d, plus Blazetamer and crzen from more recent times. The repository also thanks those who took the time to create the playlists upon which Navi-X relied. It is this that shines a light at the end of the tunnel for those wondering how to fill the void left by the addon. “We’d also like to recognize all the dedicated playlisters, who we invite to get in touch with us if they are interested in releasing their own addons sometime in the near future,” TV Addons concludes. Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day. The Mixdoctor Team Member of koditalk.org
  10. What Now For ‘Pirate’ Boxes & Streaming Following the ECJ Ruling? This week the European Court of Justice found that set-top boxes and similar devices can infringe copyright if they are sold pre-configured for piracy. The Court also clarified that when users stream content from an illegal source, they too fall foul of the law. So with these issues in mind, how is the market likely to respond? On Wednesday, the European Court of Justice handed down its decision in the long-running case between Dutch anti-piracy group BREIN and Filmspeler.nl. Filmspeler sold Android-type devices with Kodi software installed. However, it augmented otherwise legal setups with third-party addons designed to deliver infringing content to customers. Filmspeler’s owners felt that its pre-configured devices were legal, but both BREIN and ultimately the ECJ disagreed, with the latter noting that their sale amounted to a “communication to the public” in respect of infringing content. So what does this decision mean for the sale of so-called “fully-loaded” devices in the EU? In the very short term, probably very little. Longer term, some changes probably lie ahead. Suppliers There can be little doubt that one of the first places people turn to for such devices are places like eBay. But despite some recent UK tabloid claims that the auction site had banned their sale, a cursory search today reveals hundreds of listings for devices that are clearly configured for piracy. Over time – whether due to eBay tightening its policies, more aggressive reporting of infringing listings by rights holders, or increased caution on the part of sellers due to prosecutions – it’s likely that these kinds of blatant ‘pirate’ listings will become much less common. However, sellers will find subtle ways to get their message across, without attracting too much attention. For instance, people hoping to watch satellite TV without paying for an expensive subscription can head over to eBay and pop the otherwise benign terms “satellite” and “gift” into the search box. Hundreds of listings appear, the majority of which offer a pirate subscription to an illegal card-sharing service. ‘Pirate’ box sellers are likely to employ similar tactics in future. While sprawling, eBay is relatively easy to police but the same cannot be said of the listings that appear in local classified papers. These ads are often placed by regular people who have nurtured a small cottage industry selling a few boxes per week. These people could find themselves targeted by authorities, but sheer numbers will dictate that most fly under the radar. For suppliers still intent on shifting volume, safer strategies exist. Pirate addons? Get ready for a DIY boom This week’s ECJ ruling has nothing to do with the sale of basic hardware and everything to do with infringing software. In other words, if box suppliers sell devices with little other than an operating system installed, they are not breaking the law. This presents a problem, however. A typical ‘pirate’ box buyer hasn’t got the knowledge to turn an Android device into a piracy machine, that’s why he bought the thing off eBay in the first instance. This means that these kinds of people will be much less likely to buy if they have to mess around themselves. However, if they only have to click a couple of links to get going, that probably won’t be too much of a problem. That’s certainly the case with native Android apps such as Showbox, Popcorn Time, Mobdro, and Terrarium TV, which are all installed to a set-top device with a couple of clicks, even by the complete novice. With this in mind, it’s likely that sellers will very gently direct customers to sites offering the software and tutorials, rather than take the risk themselves. Custom installers for Kodi (such as TVAddons’ Fusion) are also widely available and will no doubt gain further traction if the availability of pre-configured ‘pirate’ boxes is restricted. Expect there to be a lot of innovation in this area, with an emphasis on making this as close to a ‘one-click’ process as possible. But will users be breaking the law using these setups? In a word – probably. Up until this week, it was widely believed that users who merely stream pirated content are not breaking the law. It was a position even held by UK Trading Standards, who have an important prosecution pending against a box seller. But the ECJ’s decision published on Wednesday appears to have removed all doubt, noting that a “copyright-protected work obtained by streaming from a website belonging to a third party offering that work without the consent of the copyright holder” does not qualify for exemption from reproduction rights. In other words, streaming copyrighted content from an illicit source is now just as illegal in the EU as downloading from an illicit source. So what does this mean for the average ‘pirate’ box user? In the short term, probably not a great deal. When a user downloads or streams infringing content, whether that’s from a file-hosting site, streaming portal, or even YouTube, no third parties are legally able to get in the way to monitor what’s going on. The user’s connection is directly communicating with the source, and unlike BitTorrent, there are no easily monitored and potentially risky uploads going on. So yes, streaming is now apparently confirmed illegal but will remain a hidden offense carried out by dozens of millions of people all around the EU. Even in the face of an ECJ ruling, only their consciences will stand between them and illicit content, whether a box seller installed the addons, or if they did the deed themselves. Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day. The Mixdoctor Team Member of koditalk.org
  11. TVAddons, the leading repository for unofficial Kodi addons, continues to broaden its user-base. Last month nearly 40 million unique users connected to the site’s servers, transferring a dazzling petabyte of data. If it’s up to the site’s operators, the recent growth will be just the beginning of an ongoing trend. Streaming piracy is on the rise with popular media player Kodi at the center of attention. While Kodi itself is a neutral platform, millions of people use third-party addons to turn it into the ultimate pirate machine. TVAddons is of the largest repositories of these plugins. The site, which is also the home of FreeTelly, a custom pre-loaded version of Kodi for PC and Mac, is the go-to destination for those who want to upgrade their Kodi experience. Over the past year-and-a-half, interest in Kodi has skyrocketed, something that’s in large part driven by “pirate” addons. As such, TVAddons has also seen its visitor numbers shoot through the roof. The site’s latest numbers show how rapidly the platform is growing. Roughly a year ago the repository had about 10 million unique users per month, and last month this number was reached in a single day. Most of these users aren’t visiting the website. They are people checking in from their devices to see if there’s anything new. Still, the numbers are quite impressive. The graph below shows that every month more than forty million Kodi-enabled devices with their addons are online, checking for updates. In terms of actual bandwidth used, there was also a milestone reached last month. In total, TVAddons users transferred a petabyte of data from the site, or one quadrillion (short scale) bytes. The traffic is divided over a wide array of addons. The site currently lists 1,544 different versions, of which the community-maintained Genesis addon is one of the most popular. How frequently these individual addons are used, remains a mystery though. TVAddons’ Eleazar informs TorrentFreak that they don’t keep any statistics on the use of individual addons. In part to avoid a competitive atmosphere, but also for privacy reasons. “We don’t allow addons to keep individual stats. It would turn our open source and positive ‘pay-it-forward’ minded community into a place of fierce competition, which is not part of our principles. It would also be a privacy issue, no one wants their piracy tracked,” he says. In addition, the site is also doing its best to keep profit-seekers away from its platform. This includes people who are trying to sell paid access to pirated content, including unofficial IPTV suppliers. “We do not support all these profit-seeking operations like paid IPTV, people selling preloaded Kodi boxes and other stuff. We do what we do for free, for the purpose of sharing and working on our own skills, not so that other people can sell it or try to advertise to our user base,” Eleazar notes. Going forward, TVAddons will focus on improving its current services so that users can have access to media content in the most convenient way possible. By hosting pirate addons, the site itself isn’t particularly liked by copyright holders, but that doesn’t stop the team from moving ahead. “Right now we’re just working on making things easier and more efficient,” Eleazar says. Given the recent growth, the public agrees that the team is on the right path. It will be interesting to see if the repository can keep up these growth numbers. They could easily go up to 100 million unique users this time next year, or down to zero, depending on how the wind blows. Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day.

  13. Nagra Targets Pirate Kodi Streaming Addons and IPTV While reasonably effective satellite and cable TV anti-piracy systems do exist, these are being entirely circumvented by pirate content delivered over the Internet. No surprise then that conditional access companies such as NAGRA are spreading their wings, targeting illegal IPTV and third-party Kodi addons. Since their very inception, satellite and cable TV systems have been vulnerable to those who enjoy watching content but prefer not to pay. Many ‘solutions’ have been developed to offer consumers the chance to watch premium content for free, or close to it, via the use of modified receivers, replacement or hacked smart cards, or more recently so-called ‘card sharing‘ arrangements. In response, so-called conditional access companies have developed advanced systems to ensure that viewers are also subscribers. One of the more successful is Nagravision (NAGRA), a system that is deployed in set-top boxes around the world. But while NAGRA in this particular form can go some way towards protecting content delivered through proprietary devices, it can be bypassed by content delivered over the Internet, such as via streaming sites, augmented Kodi setups, and illegal IPTV services. To that end, NAGRA and the International Broadcaster Coalition Against Piracy (IBCAP) have announced an expanded agreement “to bring a new generation of anti-piracy technology and services” to broadcasters and distributors of international and multicultural content. “Developing automated, state-of-the-art tools to detect unauthorized streaming – especially on increasingly popular IPTV set-top boxes and Kodi add-ons – helps ensure we can take swift and decisive action against pirates and maintain the value of the services offered to IBCAP members,” says Frederic Guitard, Vice President Media Security Services for NAGRA. IBCAP and NAGRA have been working together since 2014, and the expansion of the agreement was welcomed by Chris Kuelling, Executive Director of IBCAP. “The expansion of our agreement with NAGRA will help us leverage the latest technologies and expertise in content protection and anti-piracy with the aim of putting pirates out of business and replacing them with legitimate providers,” he said. NAGRA says it will establish a lab to monitor and detect unauthorized use of content via set-top boxes, websites and other streaming platforms. The company says it will target both linear feeds and VOD content, and take action to have that content removed. It will also take steps to identify people selling pirate services (such as Kodi boxes augmented with infringing addons and unlicensed IPTV resellers) with an aim to either educate or gather evidence for future lawsuits. The latter option could prove quite expensive. According to figures provided by IBCAP, since 2014 the group has obtained judgments or settlements against IPTV box manufacturers, providers, and retailers in excess of $100 million. “ISP’s, CDN’s, and domain name providers have complied with court orders and unauthorized IPTV services have been disrupted or shut down entirely,” the group says. Crackdowns on IPTV and Kodi box suppliers are becoming increasingly commonplace, particularly in Europe. Action by the Premier League and Spanish authorities shut down a large IPTV supplier last year and fresh action against a pair of IPTV affiliated ISPs was announced just last week by Europol.

  15. Customise Homescreen Shortcuts with Kodi Addons (16.1 Jarvis or Below) Once you have a few Kodi addons installed, you may find it worthwhile to set shortcuts to your favourite addons, so that they can be accessed directly from your Kodi homescreen. It will simplify your Kodi addon experience and make give you even faster access to watch anything you wish. It’s fairly simple and definitely a good idea to set addon shortcuts within Kodi. It should only take a few seconds to set up, and you can go back and change them as often as you’d like. The hard part is figuring out which Kodi addons to set as shortcuts, there are so many to choose from! Step 1: Navigate to the Settings tab under the SYSTEM menu. Step 2: Select the Appearance tab from the vertical menu bar. Step 3: Select the Settings field under the Skin settings tab. Step 4: Scroll down to the Add-on Shortcuts tab. Step 5: Click on Add-on 1 under the Home page “Videos” submenu heading. Step 6: Choose the Kodi addon that you wish to show up as your first addon shortcut. Step 7: Repeat the previous two steps for up to five add-ons per category. Step 8: Return to your Kodi homescreen to find it looking something like this! As you can probably tell, there are a lot of things that can be customized within Kodi to suit your liking. It’s all a matter of going through the settings and playing around until you figure out exactly what it is you like.
