🔥🔥🔥 Upgrade to Kodi 17.3 Krypton to Patch Major Security Flaw (24/May/2017) 🔥🔥🔥   05/24/2017

Upgrade to Kodi 17.3 Krypton to Patch Major Security Flaw (24/May/2017)   We’re very sorry to have to bring you this news, but upgrading Kodi to the latest version (released today) is fairly urgent if you wish to keep your network secure. Earlier today, a security flaw within Kodi (and other media players including VLC) was reported by researchers from Check Point Software Technologies. They demonstrated that an attacker could gain control of any Kodi device through the use of malicious code placed within subtitles. Hypothetically, if an infected subtitle file were to be downloaded by Kodi, it could give a hacker full control over your device. This is particularly concerning when it comes to automatically downloaded subtitles. It is very important that you upgrade Kodi as soon as possible, otherwise you could be leaving your entire computer, device, or even home network at risk. Security flaws in software happens all the time, it’s normal. This security flaw also affected many other media players that are far more popular than Kodi. The important thing is that the issue was fixed quickly, and so far no damage has been reported. However, now that the security flaw has reached mainstream news, hackers will now likely be looking to exploit it far more aggressively. The official developers of Kodi have been working tirelessly to release an updated version of Kodi that would fix security flaw, as well as some other minor bugs. Team-Kodi “highly encourages” all users to install this latest version, as do we. If you’re still running Kodi 16.1 Jarvis or below, you might as well upgrade now, that way you’ll also gain access to all the streams that use newer HTTPS technology not supported in older versions of Kodi anyway. If you follow the instructions below carefully, upgrading should be super easy. Please note that these instructions describe the unofficial use of the Kodi media center. Before Proceeding Android Users: Those of you who are running older devices or cheap Android boxes might run into some trouble. Kodi 17.3 Krypton requires Android 5.0 or higher to run. If your device doesn’t support Android 5.0, you’ll need to buy a new Android TV box in order to continue to enjoy Kodi. Apple TV 2 Users: Even though the last two versions of Kodi didn’t support the Apple TV 2, the device still seemed to work alright. This will no longer be the case moving forward, without HTTPS or HD support it’ll be next to useless, it’s time to purchase a new Android TV box. United Kingdom Users: It will be necessary to disable certain router security settingsbefore continuing, we’d also highly recommend using a VPN Provider to circumvent site blocking. Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day.

  1. APPLE will live stream WWDC 2017 keynote on June 5 at 10AM PT Apple is now promoting its upcoming special event on June 5 at 10 am PT with a landing page and a calendar entry on apple.com. Apple’s WWDC 2017 opening keynote, which Apple will live stream, will be the first major event the company has held since last fall after foregoing a spring event this year. Apple first announced WWDC 2017, which is being held in San Jose rather than San Francisco this year, earlier than usual back in February. The early announcement has helped attendees adjust plans while a variety of community events have followed WWDC from San Francisco to San Jose this year. While the venue may be changing, Apple officially confirmed that its major keynote will still be held at 10 am PT on the first Monday of the keynote. 9to5Mac will be covering all the announcements out of the keynote and WWDC 2017 so stay tuned for all the news and analysis. Apple has also added its usual calendar reminder to www.apple.com/apple-events/june-2017/ which adds Apple Special Event to your calendar with a 15 minute alert. The event entry includes this teaser: “Join us for the WWDC keynote presentation and watch every moment live.” WWDC has strictly been a software event in recent years, but this year Apple is expected to introduce new hardware on stage as well. Alongside iOS 11, macOS 10.13, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11, Apple is expected to possibly unveil new MacBooks and MacBook Pros, the first-ever 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and the first Siri Speaker which is expected to be an competitor Thank You 🙂 And Have A Great Day. 2. APPLE BYTE EXTRA CRUNCHY VIDEO PODCAST Ep 84 Windows 10 gets iTunes, and Amazon Prime Video is coming to the Apple TV. Also, the Apple Watch is more accurate than you think and more iPhone 8 rumors.
  3. Report: Apple to phase out the iPad mini, no more updates planned There may be bad news for iPad mini fans. A new report claims Apple plans to discontinue the 7.9-inch iPad sometime in the future, which is a claim supported by the lack of updates to the smaller iPad in recent years. BGR cites ‘a source close to Apple’ in reporting that the iPad mini will not be updated again and will instead by phased out over time due to decreasing sales possibly caused by lighter and thinner iPads and modern iPhones with larger displays. The report offers no additional details like when the iPad mini will actually be discontinued. Apple currently offers a single storage configuration of its iPad mini 4 with 128GB for $399 and a model with built-in LTE for $529. Apple undercut the price of the iPad mini 4 price with the new 9.7-inch iPad that goes for $329 for 32GB and $429 for 128GB. The $329 iPad also has a newer processor, although the iPad mini 4 has a higher quality display with lamination and an anti-reflective coating. Some analysts have predicted that the iPad mini will eventually be discontinued which isn’t surprising considering Apple has only revised the product three times in five years (and one update only involved adding Touch ID and a gold color option). Still, there have been reports of a so-called iPad mini Pro with Smart Connector and Apple Pencil support as unlikely as it sounds… While the iPad mini appears to be on the way out, Apple may be planning to update the iPad Pro line for the first time in over a year with a new 10.5-inch model with slimmer bezels and about the same casing as the 9.7-inch version as soon as next month at WWDC.

  6. Will a rear Touch ID sensor stop you upgrading to the iPhone 8? (APPLE BYTE VIDEO PODCAST, Ep. 81) Apple hires Google Satellite execs to work on new hardware pointing to satellite internet and more leaked schematics point to a rear Touch iD iPhone.
  7. Apple’s working on a holy grail to treat diabetes (Apple Byte Extra Crunchy VIDEO CAST, Ep. 80) Apple has a small team of biomedical engineers working to develop noninvasive sensors that can measure glucose levels through the skin. The 2017 iMac was Apple’s idea of a pro machine, until they decided to bring the Mac Pro back from the dead.

  9. Hands-on: Apple’s new ‘rent once, watch anywhere’ (VIDEO WALKTHROUGH) As someone who runs the latest iOS and tvOS betas on all devices, I was able to take advantage of the new rent once, watch anywhere feature included in yesterday’s iTunes 12.6 update to the full. Have a look at our brief video walkthrough inside to see why this comes as a welcomed new addition. After updating to iTunes 12.6, I rented a movie on my MacBook Pro. That same movie was immediately available under the Library tab of the TV app on my iPhone and iPad. Previously, such a thing was not possible. If you rented a movie on your iPhone, it stayed on your iPhone and didn’t propagate to other devices. If you wanted to watch a movie that you rented on your iPhone on your iPad, you’d have rent the movie again, even if you were within the time limits imposed (30 days after rental and 24 hours after first watch). When running the iOS 10.3 and tvOS 10.2 betas, you can rent a movie on any device, and watch that rental across all devices. If you’re not yet running iOS 10.3 and tvOS 10.2, don’t worry, as public releases of these updates should be out in the near future. I was able to start a rented movie on my MacBook Pro, resume it on my iPhone, pick back up on my iPad Pro, and finish it off on my Apple TV. Just to test, I also rented a movie via my iPhone, and that movie immediately showed up on all of my other hardware. The process was fairly seamless, and all of the devices were smart enough to resume the movie where I had previously left off. During my test I had a couple of interesting experiences. I noticed that you have to manually stop a movie before you can pick back up on another device. Unlike Apple Music, which will automatically pauses music playback when starting on another device. You’re asked to stop playback manually when trying to do the same with a movie rental. I also noticed that the Apple TV treated my initial viewing like a first watch, warning me about the 24 hour time limit even though I had already started watching the movie on another devices. 12. Everything Apple announced today (and what we’re still waiting for) Apple may not have held an event for its latest announcements, but it has certainly been an eventful morning in terms of rumored products launching. There’s also a lot left in the product pipeline that didn’t get announced (and would warrant an event). Here’s what we learned from today’s announcements: For starters, we now know that Apple actually will pre-announce when the Apple Online Store is going down for several hours of ‘maintenance’ to update product pages. I was skeptical but optimistic yesterday. The mystery created hype like a small-scale Apple event, although anyone waiting for an iPad Pro 2 was disappointed. Shortly before the store came back online, we saw the still rumored red iPhone teased by a Chinese retailer without confirmation one was coming today. Then came this year’s March iPhone announcement: Product RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in 128GB and 256GB capacities. Last year it was the iPhone SE in 16GB and 64GB capacities that got revealed in March. This year the iPhone SE doubles in storage to 32GB and 128GB without any other changes. The red iPhone was first rumored to be coming as a new iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus model later this fall, before later being rumored to be a mid-cycle iPhone 7 option alongside a 128GB GB iPhone SE. Apple also announced six new iPhone case colors. Then there are the iPad announcements. Apple discontinued the iPad mini 2 (which uses the same A7 chip as the iPhone 5s) and increased the storage for the iPad mini 4 to 128GB at the same $399 price (or $529 for cellular). That’s easy enough to follow. The 9.7-inch iPad announcement requires reading a little closer to get. Simply called iPad, this new 9.7-inch iPad replaces the originally priced $499 iPad Air 2 and starts at $329 (or $309 with education pricing). It drops the Air name but returns to the first iPad Air dimensions which means it’s thicker and heavier than the iPad Air 2. iPad upgrade options include cellular for $459, 128GB for $429, or 128GB and cellular for $559. The iPad Air 2 that it replaces in the lineup featured an A8X chip while the new iPad uses an A9 chip. For comparison, the iPad Pro models both use an A9X with better graphics performance (and both work with Apple Pencil and Smart Connector accessories unlike the new, cheaper iPad). The year-old 9.7-inch iPad Pro and year-and-a-half-old 12.9-inch iPad Pro remain the flagship tablets in the lineup for now. An all-new 10.5-inch iPad and a spec-upgraded 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 are still rumored to be in the works. We’ll have to see which of the four device identifiers belong to the new budget iPad. For now, the iPad lineup includes iPad mini 4, iPad, and iPad Pro in two sizes. Apple Watch got updates in the form of new bands and default configurations. There’s a new Woven Nylon band style, Classic Buckle gets new colors and its second redesign, and Sport Band now includes three new colors. Apple also sells Nike Sport Bands separately for the first time, and there are new colors in the collection. Along with these changes, Apple has reduced the options for which bands you can buy with new Apple Watches to only include Sport Band and Milanese Loop. All other bands including Classic Buckle and Link Bracelet are now sold separately. Finally, Swift Playgrounds for iPad got multi-language support with five additional languages and other new features. Apple also unveiled a new video editing app coming soon called Clips to go along with the new iPhone announcements. Bloomberg reported that the new app was in development last year. Clips doesn’t have a release date yet, but the fine print mentions that it requires iOS 10.3 which is still in beta: Speaking of iOS 10.3, none of Apple’s software betas were released today. Current betas include iOS 10.3 with Find My AirPods, macOS 10.12.4 with Night Shift for Mac, tvOS 10.2 with SDK updates, and watchOS 3.2 with Theater Mode which should be ready any day now based on previous beta cycles. And here’s the state of the Mac line: 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar launched in October 11-inch MacBook Air discontinued, 13-inch MacBook Air still on sale with 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar also in the lineup since October 12-inch MacBook turns year old next month iMacs rumored to be updated with USB-C and AMD graphics this year No one remembers the last time the Mac Pro and Mac mini were updated but they’re still for sale So MacBook Pros are in good shape for a while still but the rest of Apple’s Mac lineup is ripe for updating which could warrant an event along with new flagship iPads anytime. Whether that means April, September, October, or some other time is up in the air for now. Macs and iPads aside, this year’s iPhone 8 launch is set to be a huge release and could mark the first Apple Park event at Steve Jobs Theater this fall. The one thing that is set in stone is WWDC 2017 which kicks off on June 5th in San Jose this year, where we’re expecting to see iOS 11, macOS 10.13, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11. So ‘meh’ may be winning the plurality of our poll on today’s announcements (probably because flagship hardware wasn’t announced), but there are definitely a lot of new products from Apple today. Last year it was the iPhone SE (mostly iPhone 6s specs in an iPhone 5s casing) and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro (similarly spec’d to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a better camera and True Tone Display) which marked tweaks to existing hardware. This year the spring tweaks are even more minor, but it’s a change in Apple’s product portfolio no less. 22. Release of new 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models reportedly pushed to May or June Apple is widely expected to hold a media event next month to announce new iPads and perhaps refreshed iMacs and other products. A new report from Digitimes reiterates much of what we already know about Apple’s planned iPad refresh, including the launch of new 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch models. The report notes, however, that the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models may not ship until May or June… The report cites industry sources who claim that the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inh iPad Pro models won’t actually hit retail shelves until May or June, thus affecting the performance of supply chain companies like TPK Holding, General Interface Solution, and Foxconn. Originally, the plan was for three new iPads to be released in the first quarter of 2017, but the delay for the new iPad Pro models pushes them into the second quarter. As for what we can expect with the new iPads, an investor note from KGI claimed that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro would be an iterative update over the first generation model. The star of the show, however, is expected to be the new 10.5-inch model that features narrow bezels and thus similar form factor to the 9.7-inch. The 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch models are expected to feature the A10X processor, while the entry-level 9.7-inch model will use the A9 processor. Apple’s iPad lineup has faced declining shipments for a while now and the company hopes to combat that with its refresh this year. New software features for the iPad are also expected at some point, something that may help more than the actual hardware refresh. As for specifics, we’ll have to wait and see. What do you think of the rumors concerning Apple’s iPad lineup for this year? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.
